You won!

You won!

Or you almost won, and you need to come down to such and such place to claim your prize.

I have no clue what these types of scams are called, but I did receive a phone call today from someone telling me that I signed up for a car and I have almost won but I need to go claim a comp. prize that all the finalist make. Yea, I told them no and I do not sign up for things like that.

They wanted some crazy personal info too:
My total house income level
My children's ages
All kinds of things, sadly I do not remember the name of the place and it was not on the caller ID!!!

Anytime I hear someone on the phone telling me I just won something that I don't recall ever doing anything for I very quickly and politely (if possible) get rid of them. I did have one not give up when I politely told him no twice. Some idiot in India. I hope he doesn't forget the earful I gave him for that.

Yeah, or you won and we need your bank account to send you the money you won. Yeah right! Send your account info and watch the winnings be subtracted from your account. Some scams sound so crazy you think no one will ever fall for them. However, people are desperate now and should really be on the lookout for anything that sounds too good to be true.
