Web Design

There are several groups or people out there that are pretending to be companies to entice people to buy a website design package and then the people are getting very crappy, unprofessional websites for thousands of dollars and getting no further help.

I want to suggest to people that you research and look around a little compare prices, and find out what you can about each company before you choose to get your work done. Make sure that you understand what they are going to do and that you will be part of the process to complete the project.

That is funny that you mention this, it has happened to a friend of mine recently and we were unsure what to ask for when we go with a company. Maybe you can help us out here. What types of questions should be asked?

Amazing the lengths in which these con artists will go to in order to make some money. I guess that they figure this is a full time job and they will be able to make a good living. Which they do.

Most design companies should have a professional polished site. They should also have many references and a portfolio of work completed. Check out each of those sites and don't be afraid to contact the owner/admin to ask about the design company to ensure they really did create it. Ask about the experience and if they would recommend them. Don't pay everything up front. Most good designers will take a portion up front to begin work and the remainder when they turn over the finished product including all files used. If they want $5k up front forget about it.
