Telephone Add Ons

Telephone Add Ons

I use a pretty recognizable telephone company for my telephone service. I signed up and they said that it would be a certain amount-a very reasonable amount. When I get the bill there are tons of add ons like surcharges, taxes, etc. My "cheap" telephone service winds up costing me mega bucks. I am currently looking for another company who don't lie to me about the price.

Good luck with that. I have also been looking around for a new company. They usually quote me a pretty good price. However, when I ask if that includes taxes and surcharges; their tone changes into uncertainty. Of course, they have to admit that it doesn't. By the time they add on the extra charges, their prices really aren't much better than what I pay now.

I know! Isn't that a scamA confidence game or other fraudulent scheme, especially for making a quick profit; . I can't believe they get away with charging all of that extra. Most of the extra stuff, I've never ever heard of so I don't know that it is even legit. You know they could add fees on there that we wouldn't ever know the difference. We'd just go on paying and never know if they were scamming us or not.

Their customer services reps should be able to give you a straight answer on the taxes and fees. Granted they usually aren't trained much to look up the info but it is in their system. I worked for a major cell phone company and we could go to a link for taxes and fees and look up the information by city and state. Back then New York City was by far the worst place in the country. A lot of places have made an effort to catch up though.

And why is it, every time you receive your phone bill, it's for a different amount? I have the same service and features that I had a year ago, I don't make long distance calls on my home phone (I use my cell for this), and nothing else changes. But everytime I get my bill, it's for a different amount. It could vary by just a couple of cents, but it has varied as much as $5.

I just don't get it. I'm seriously thinking about having my land line taken out and just using my cell phone. I know I would save money by doing that.

Exactly Frankie! I have noticed that too. And the same thing happens with my TV cable bill. It should be the same every month. There should be no extras since I have the exact same coverage every month. I live back in the boonies or I would go to my cell phone exclusively.

I think everyone has noticed it, I do not even have a land line anymore and I have been land line free for maybe five years now? Somewhere around there and I barely use the phone to start with, its more for ER's.
