Restaurant.com

I was so excited when I found restaurant.com. Apparently, I could buy $25 certificates for $5 or less depending on the current promotion. I checked their list and found a local restaurant that I was looking forward to checking out. There were only a couple listed in my area, so I was glad to find this one was listed. After I received my certificates, the restaurant stopped accepting them. I contacted restaurant.com to let them know and to get a refund. They don't give refunds. They were willing to exchange the certificates for another restaurant. But, the only one in my area was way too expensive. Finally, I just had to resign myself to the fact I lost my money.

A lot of this is going around. I don't know if it is Restaurant.com's fault, or the local restaurants who know beforehand they are not going to accept the coupons when customers come in to redeem them. Heck, the website and the local restaurants could be working together on the scamA confidence game or other fraudulent scheme, especially for making a quick profit; !

That just doesn't seem right. If they sold the certificates to you and the restaurant you chose stopped accepting them, you should be entitled to a full refund.

I think some fast food place had this issue not that long ago, McDonald's maybe? It was something I read on a friends facebook, she went in for a free ice cream cone or something and they hung a sign up that they are not accepting any coupons anymore or something like that.

I have only heard great things about restaurant.com. I know many people who have purchased certificates online and never had any issues. There are quite a few restaurants in our area, though, to choose from. So, I guess it depends on the choices you have and if the restaurants are honorable.
