Post Scam
What happens in that a card is posted through your letterbox with a message claiming that they were unable to deliver a parcel to the premises and specifying a number to call in order to retrieve the package.
The punter dials the number, its a premium rate number it costs them $20.00 and of course no package!

Well you are right in such a cases we cannot do anything. We lost money because of dialing premium rate numbers. In my country we are lucky that such numbers cannot dial from phone without registration in phone company.
Thats very interesting to note and its something that other countries should look at it would certainly halp cut down on fraud and on phone bills per se!
I've never really heard of that one, I've heard of using that to get them out of the house so they can rob it, but never to rob them over the phone.
And yes, phones needing a special registry to dial certain numbers is an excellent idea, what country is it you're from?
This all are done by some bad persons who just make fun by doing this. They will not get anything from this.Than also doing.
This is why you should never dial a number thats not a recognizable extension. If you don't know its either toll-free or a regular charge its best to do a reverse lookup online or check the area code. Once you call you're stuck with the charges.
Never heard of this one, it could have easily caught me because I buy regularly on Ebay so I would think that it one of my legitimate packages.
I always make sure the note in my box has a local place to go to, and I will go down there myself just to be on the safe side. I don't trust people when it comes to my mail anymore. I had someone call and tell the post that I was deceased before and my mail had stopped for a month before I knew any difference.
