Parking Lot Scams
Sorry this doesnt have a place on the boards, and its not an online scamA confidence game or other fraudulent scheme, especially for making a quick profit; , but it makes me think that the creepy people that do this offline, are the same ones that are doing things like this online.
I went to a mall one day, and a guy tried to sell me really cheap purfume. Like name brand stuff for a couple of bucks. And these people will come up to you at your car door, it really caught me off gaurd once and I hit my panic button the car. This really makes me wonder what these people are thinking trying to do that to others in a public place and freaking them out. Some also state that they can train you for a fee, to do the exact same thing when you keep telling them you dont want any.

It's scary, I know how it feels to be caught off guard in a situation like this. It has happened to me, not with perfume though. I did panic but I had the situation under control. Every body is trying to make a living.
Oddly after I was telling my better half this, once we started dating (he is from west coast, I'm from east), he told me that someone came up doing the same thing to him when he was about 17. He was with friends when it happened, and everyone just throw it off as a goof and left. I went back to the mall the next day and gave a description of the man and told them to keep a look out just in case.
Don't ever visit Morocco. we went there in high school on a trip and they practically mug you until your tour guide pays them off. Its really sad as they are obviously not begging because they like it. It is kind of scary but everyone who live in a non rural area should be well versed in self defense so it should be less of a worry as you have the tools to protect yourself.
Yeah, any time something seems to be too good to be true, because it is too cheap, it normally is a rip off item, not the genuine article. Don't buy, you'll end up with a hugely inferior product.
I live in California, and aside from having homeless people follow me to my car asking for change, I also have people following me asking if I would like to buy anything from tamales and tortillas to purses.
This happens quite alot in the uk and its important not to let them win!
You cannot be forced into buying something you simpy dont want!
But these guys have such a strong sales patter that you always are made to say yes!
I carnt ever say no as im too soft and feel sorry for them as they must need the cash to be trying so hard but i really wish they wouldnt come up to me!
This is one of those things that really scare me! It's not so much that I'm worried about losing money as I am worried about being abducted or raped or something. It's so freaky when random people come up to you in a parking lot, claiming they have something to show you. Scary.
