New house inspections

I am sure many of these inspections are needed to make sure you are not getting less house and more work, but are there a great many inspection scammers out there? I watch the house flip shows and sometimes they have people inspect that do not look legit. How do you check them out?

I think you would have to know someone who does this professionally that can give you some tips, or hire a company and ensure that you can get recourse if necessary.
