Mortgage scams

With the housing market in a downturn and foreclosures at an all-time high, it is not surprising that there many, many unscrupulous men and women perpetuating mortgage scams. Some promise homeowners the stars and the moon: we'll get you out of debt if you sign over the deed to your house to us, but we will let you stay there. Then, bam! The house goes into foreclosure and the poor sap or saps end up homeless.

I read about one that was a little different. Once your house is listed on public records about the foreclosureA legal process by which the lender seizes property of a homeowner, usually due to the homeowner not making timely payments on the mortgage., these people will mail you out filer info about their company, that they will have someone purchase a new house for you, teach you how to manage your money better, and then have you pay like 1500.00 for a course, its nonrefundable you know, and then promise to get you in a new place before you are kicked out of your old one.
