LifeLock.com - The Grade is in and LifeLock.com is Flunking

LifeLock.com promises to protect you from identity theftCrime in which an imposter obtains key pieces of personal information, such as Social Security or driver's license numbers, in order to impersonate someone else.. I personally believe there is no way to stop a persistent crook. The founder of LifeLock, Todd Davis, starred in commercials giving out his real social security number to show how good LifeLock works. Well, a man in Texas has managed to get a pay day loan using Mr. Davis' info.

Not only did Todd Davis' stunt backfire with the pay day loan, but LifeLock is being sued by a couple of states and class action lawyers. They claim the company is not certified to sell insurance and they are participating in deceptive business practices, false advertisingThe use of false or misleading statements in advertising., and a host of other violations. Among the companies want to sue LifeLock is Experian, probably the most deceptive creditMoney loaned or the ability of an individual or company to borrow money. reporting agency! Crooks suing crooks!

LifeLock brags about the credit alerts they can place on your credit file with the credit reporting agencies and they charge a fee for this service. Hmmm, you can do the same thing yourself for free! That's right, $0.00 to do it yourself.

Be careful when dealing with companies like LifeLock who promise insurance or protection from crooks. Do your homework to see if the fees are for something you can do for yourself. Or is the price for the convenience worth it (are you too lazy to watch your money)?

Lifelock just settled a class action lawsuit because the failed to protect your identity from being stolen for already existing accounts! Wow, seems like that would have been easier than protecting against new accounts.
