HostWay/ValueWeb Hosting is the Worse!

HostWay/ValueWeb Hosting is the Worse!

Our company was with Valueweb for over 8 years hosting our site and many of our customer's web sites. Well, they sent out emails stating Hostway purchased Valueweb (Affinity) and that all the Valueweb servers in Miami would be moving to Hostway's farm in Tampa. The move was supposed to take 12-15 hours on a Friday night through Saturday morning/early afternoon.

The day came for the move and our servers went down ... expected because that is what the emails had stated would happen. Saturday morning arrives ... no servers, no sites. Ok, no panic, we will check again Saturday afternoon.

Saturday afternoon comes and goes ... no servers, no sites, no contact from Valueweb or Hostway as to what is going on.

Saturday night comes and goes ... no servers, no sites, no contact from Valueweb or Hostway as to what is going on.

Sunday comes and goes ... no servers, no sites, no contact from Valueweb or Hostway as to what is going on.

Monday-Friday comes and goes ... no servers, no sites, no contact from Valueweb or Hostway as to what is going on.

Saturday comes and finally, our servers come back online! Yeah. Well, 2 hours later they go back out and Valueweb/Hostway finally admit they don't know what the hell they are doing with this move. DNS issues, machines with busted hard drives, etc. No planning and no expertise on hand to take care of the situation. Simple reboots that took 1 minute with Valueweb now takes a 1 whole day with Hostway ... if you are lucky!

New names for these companies after merger should have been NoValueWeb or HostGoAway. These guys are terrible now. If you care about your web sites and customer's web sites, stay away from these losers.

I have heard of other people having problems with Valueweb/Hostway but I did not believe it, others say there are just okey, I only go for the well known ones like GoDaddy, I`ve nerver had any problems with it , so far. I am going to refgister a new domain with another webhost that has the servers in the US, but I am a little anxious about this one.

HostWay dogged our server also. We were offline for over 2 weeks and could not get reboots. They were totally unresponsive to anything and we have multiple dedicated servers with them.

This is why you need pay a little bit more and go with someone who is local that you can check with who has 24 hour support if something goes wrong and can be worked out immediately. Sorry about your problem, I certainly would not have accepted it for that long of a period. I would changed servers within a couple of days if it is was not back up and you need to always have copies of your website.

Sounds to me like you would be wise to stay away from this company that took over hosting services. I wonder what the problem is unless they really do not have experience running a server or unless they are only a third party provider which means someone else is actually hosting the service for the customers.

I would never go with someone that has that type of problem.
