Has anyone ever been hurt emotionally by online scammers?
In my experience, dating- or adult-themed-scams hurt people not just financially but emotionally, as well. I've had more than my fair share of heartaches because a girl I was chatting with wasn't as "unattached" as she claimed to be or even lived in the location she listed in her profile on a Messenger. Fortunately, no financial losses have ever come my way because of them, but they have indelibly made a mark on me and caused me to be cynical, and even distrusting of people's motivations.
How about you? Have you been hurt emotionally by online scammers as well as "gotten got" financially?

I have a friend who thought she found her dream girlfriend online. They chatted online for almost a year, and then my friend decided that she wanted to meet this girl. My friend sent money for the girl to pay for her ticket, and the girl wrote back about a week later, after not showing, saying that she was not able to come up and would need more money to fix her car or something. My friend sent her more than a thousand dollars total over the course of this "relationship", only to find out that this girl was really a man scamming at least 5 other people in her area.
Yes, I was in need to sell a car before a child was to be born, and the money was to be used to help get things for the new baby and also to be able to fly out before the baby was born to see my oldest. The online scammer told me that they would purchase the car, sent me a cashiers check, and it was more than bouncable, it was a complete scam. I hope the guy gets caught and locked for life! He was the (financial) reason I could not see my first born before my second was born. That money was extremely important to me getting to see him. :(
