Grandma I need bail money!

I was watching the news this morning and there have been a number of phone calls from Canada to seniors in the US. One guy told a lady he was her grandson who was stranded in Canada and was arrested so he needed $1,000 to get bailed out of jail! The lady sent it without realizing her real grandson was in class!!

Whoa. This is terrible. I hate it when people take advantage of the elderly. It seems these people never get caught by the authorities! I wish their inner selves would get them to stop their wicked ways!

That is sad when scammers feel the need to prey on little old ladies. She must have needed a hearing aid, too, if she didn't recognize her own grandson's voice, though. That is awful!

I think that is well past the norm of what we think sometimes with scammers. I would be shocked as right now I do not have any grand kids, call them on it and then report it.

I'm pretty sure this wan't the 'grandson's' first call. After calling quite a few and getting nowhere, all he has to do is stick with the scamA confidence game or other fraudulent scheme, especially for making a quick profit; - some grandma somewhere, with a soft unsuspecting herat, will eventually fall for it. It;s so sad.

I agree that to not know your own grand child's voice then you are asking for trouble by sending money. I'd never send money to someone I didn't recognise, certainly would request further information-like what the mother was doing and why she couldn't help.
