Getting fired for an unspoken "No Tolerance Policy"?
I was fired from the restaurant I work at because a guest wrote an email to corporate saying I demanded more of a tip and told them to get out of the restaurant. Not true. I simply asked if everything was ok. Upon explaining myself I was told it didn't matter. Apparently asking if everything was ok is against some unspoken zero tolerance policy. (Worse, even then what happened, was the callous treatment by management when I because visibly emotionally upset.)
But regardless of that, I was fired because someone lied and was looking for a free ride next time he came to the restaurant. Am I entitled to anything? I don't think so, but now I can't pay my rent because I needed the shifts I was going to be getting this month.
Though the positive is that I didn't waste more time working hard and promoting/supporting a company (or maybe just a General Manager) who treat their employees like cattle. Completely inhuman, and replaceable.

This totally sucks for you. Were there any witnesses who would be willing to support your side of the story? If so, you may be able to get a wrongful termination case started against the company. If you have witnesses, talk to an attorney. They will let you know if you have a case or not. Be prepared to go for a while before getting any kind of judgement, but it will be worth it to show the company they can't treat their employees like pieces of meat!
