Free Online Car Insurance Quote
Companies who give out free auto insurance quotes are very deceptive! Their online quotes are usually decent, but they are not the actual price you will pay for your premium once you sit down with an agent!
I tried a free car insurance quote from geico.com, esurance.com, progressive.com, aaa.com, and allstate.com. All of the sites did as promised and gave me a free auto insurance quote. However, NONE of the companies actually wanted to give me the rate once I was contacted by an agent. I'm not sure if it was creditMoney loaned or the ability of an individual or company to borrow money. history, claim history, or what that would change the price of the free online auto insurance quote. In each and every case, the actual price of the premium for the car insurance policy increased over the free online car insurance quote. Progressive's actual quote was the closest to the online quote while Allstate was the worse. esurance.com's online quote was the cheapest for me, but Progressive beat them with the actual quote.
Total ripoffs if you are looking for the price of the free online car insurance quote.

I used the free online auto insurance quote sites to get a quote for my 2003 Ford Mustang in San Diego, California. esurance.com gave the lowest quote and the lowest actual price for my premium. None of the companies gave the same price for the free online car insurance quote and the actual insurance quote.
geico.com gave me the best price for auto insurance. Progressive.com gave me the best free auto insurance quote online, but geico.com beat them in "real life" so I went with the Gecko!
Allstate actually gave the same rate for the free online auto insurance quote as the actual premium price. It was so ridiculously high I scratched through them with a big red marker!
That's why you have to be so careful and shop around to get the best deals and don't make decisions based on only one set of information.
Progressive gave me the best price once I actually called around to the different insurance agencies. I must have filled out the free online quote incorrectly as the "real life" price was cheaper than all the companies online quotes, including Geico. Luckily I have not had to really use them so I don't know what type of service I am going to get for this cheap rate.

I went through an online company for an auto insurance quote and not only did they not honor the online quote but the next day I entered the exact same information and they gave me a different quote. I thought perhaps I had entered something wrong so I entered the information again and got a third separate quote. It really didn't surprise me when none of the three online quotes matched the phone quote.
No to mention it's so time consuming to sit through all the fifty online questions you got to answer. And then sometimes you really don't understand what coverage is better for you so when you pick something and then meet up with the agent you realized it was all wrong!
I just went through the long interview process again for an online quote and noticed they didn't even ask for a SSN. Most insurance companies are going to performa creditMoney loaned or the ability of an individual or company to borrow money. check, so I found it odd that there was not a request for my social security number. Needless to say, the quote from online did not match the phone quote. The lady on the phone interestingly enough, asked for my SSN as part of the interview process.

Based on the responses, it seems as if there is no consistency between any of the the popular insurance companies. The only common thing is that the the online quotes cannot be relied upon.
I know sometimes when you call 800 #'s they are for a national average rate, and when you are contacted local by the branch the prices change since its a state to state thing. That could be the case here.
You know, I don't get the "using your creditMoney loaned or the ability of an individual or company to borrow money. score to price auto insurance" deal. How would your credit score make a difference in the price you pay for car insurance? I think that companies are going to far sometimes in using that score to make the ones who can least afford it pay more. I really think the government needs to look at this practice and take it in hand. I agree there are some reasons to use it but come on, to sell car insurance?
