'Free' Airline Tickets
This is, to say the least, creative advertising and at worst a full on scamA confidence game or other fraudulent scheme, especially for making a quick profit; . Have you ever seen an advertisement for a 'free' airline ticket, and tried to actually sign up for it? I did, out of curiosity to see where the catch was.
It wasn't free of course, but nearly was. They charged me £4 for it for administration, because I didn't have the right creditMoney loaned or the ability of an individual or company to borrow money. card-only a Cirrus card holder gets it free. The problem was that because there was a charge for it, you then get hit for full taxes, even a fuel surcharge. This 'free' flight, ended up clocking up a hundred pounds sterling or so in these charges. So much for free!
I am not suggesting that anyone should be entitled to free flights, just that the air line shouldn't advertise as free, what is really just cheaper.

This type of thing aggravates me too. You see it all the time when ordering things online or from the television. "But wait, you get a second thing-a-jig absolutely free"...in fine print, it says pay shipping and handling. This doubles the shipping, even though you know it doesn't really cost double.
Not to mention the fact that many times, there are just a tiny number of people who qualify to get the maximum benefits. Either you live inthe wrong place, you're too old or too young, you don't have a creditMoney loaned or the ability of an individual or company to borrow money. card - or any number of other exceptions.
Yes, this doesn't make much sense really. Why not just tell it like it is-super cheap flights, you just pay the taxes? I know that 'free' gets more attention, but doing it this way just annoys people.
This is not as much a scamA confidence game or other fraudulent scheme, especially for making a quick profit; as it is a ploy to get people on the plane. The ticket price is free but you can not expect someone to pay for the taxes you have for your flight. I used to work in travel and places did this all the time for promo's. You need to read the fine print (that I am sure takes about the creditMoney loaned or the ability of an individual or company to borrow money. card) before you sign up.
The issue is not that you have to pay the taxes, but that they advertise it as free, which like I say is rather creative. All they need to do is be a little more honest and I'm sure they'd have more people go all the way with purchase instead of getting part way, getting cheesed off and leaving!
