Foreclosure Rescue Scams

How do foreclosureA legal process by which the lender seizes property of a homeowner, usually due to the homeowner not making timely payments on the mortgage. rescue scams work? I have received a number of letters in the mail and a large number of phone calls from people who can help me save my foreclosed home.

I called the mortgage companies and they all say they no longer own the home. If they don't own it, who does? How are these other folks contacting me going to save a home I have no idea who owns? I don't own it any longer and the mortgage company no longer owns it.

Check the fees the person or company will charge you to keep your home. Get them to layout the entire plan before proceeding. Also, do your homework on their company. And with any person you are about to hire for help, check their references thoroughly!

More than likely, the scammers are going to charge you a fee to get started on your paperwork. That would be the first number I would dial.
