Elderly Friend

Elderly Friend

I have an elderly friend through my church. She cancelled her bank account yesterday (after a big talk with me)after an unknown company was taking monthly sums from her bank account. She had been called at home by a company claiming to be the brokers that her car's warranty went through, and they wanted to sell her an extended warranty.

But they weren't taking the agree upon amount-in fact the amount changed from month to month and the name on the debit was nothing like that of her car company. We contacted the real broker-and you guessed it, nothing to do with them.

The poor woman has lost about a thousand dollars now. Please, look out for your elderly relatives and friends-they are more likely to get sucked in than anyone else.

That's a terrible loss. My old man is quite savvy when it comes to handling his financial matters and it's hard to cheatBetrayal, a form of deception or dismissal of prior presumptions, is the breaking or violation of a presumptive social contract (trust, or confidence) that produces moral and psychological conflict within a relationship amongst individuals, between organizations or between individuals and organizations. him out of his money even for a bank. At times he asks me to check up something for him when I visit the bank , but I feel he is sharper than me to detect if anything is out of place.

these are the lowest of the low ones that prey on the elderly and children....and the bad thing is they get away with it...i was helping take care of a friend of my (98 year old) grandmothers who never had children etc. I took her to the doctor one day, and it was time to pay, and i nearly fell on the floor when she opened up her check book she had ''pre'' signed about ten blank checks!!!!!!!! of course i remedied this, but wonder how much she had been taken advantage of prior....many are just soooooooooo trusting.......

Yes this is true-its the young who have yet to learn and the elderly who are not exposed to media about this kind of thing that get got most often. In this case my friend really is out the money too-she signed everything legally and so all we could do according to the bank is stop the payments.

Those scammers I believe will have to pay for what they are doing, it may just happen when they are old too, simply disgusting.

This is the reason why everyone needs awareness of what is happening around us. We will grow old too and we don't want that exact thing happening to us. So we should inform and continue education people even if they are old already. I could not imagine how these scammers eat their food out of scamming other people, especially the very vulnerable people.
