Directory of Work From Home Opportunities
A few years ago I paid for a directory of work from home opportunities which turned out to be a waste of money. There were some "opportunities" to assemble products, but I'm sure that the company had no intentions of passing the assembled products.
To complicate things, there was at least one legitimate company for freelance writing in the directory that I had already made some money from.

There are a number of great work from home opportunities, but directories like that are usually pretty phoney
I believe personally that you cannot make good money working from home unless you get a exceptional offer. From my observations, waking up, getting dressed, driving to work, and actually doing work is the money payer. I hate commercials on TV that offer these work at home things where they say people make $200000 a year. I laugh and say sure. I had a friend who tried it and ended up losing $3000 plus the money she lost from being out of work.
Exactly true, if it was that easy to make millions from home then everybody would be doing it and no one would ever go to work. The only people who make money out of these scams are the people who sell them.
Directories that contact you out of the blue are often a bit dodgy, it's not just work at home directories. If it's any consolation my wife lost a bit of money listing in some directories, so its not just the consumers who get duped.
Working from home can pay you decent money if you have a skill that people want to pay for. The only problem in these days of outsourcing is that if it can be done from home, it can be done from India.
These directories that you speak of are generally no good, and the person that is making the money is the person selling it. I would not buy one ever. I know from experience that there are legit companies that are willing to pay you to work from home, but honestly they are far and few between even with outsourced work.
There is also a lot of competition as they are reaching a global market looking for the people they can pay the least amount of money too. Which makes it harder for some people in countries that are very well developed.
This has been one of the biggest scams for a number of years. Keep in mind all of the information that is in those directories are available with searching on the net. Some harder to find than others but most are out there and getting connected for free to them is not as difficult as people think.
I actually know of someone who received mail about a directory that they could be listed in for their business. The listing was suppose to be free but the cost of the book they wanted to charge for. The person said they were not interested in the book itself but was interested in the listing. They now have been sent to collections because they refuse to pay for a bill for something they never got or wanted to begin with.
There are plenty of directories out there that have good reliable information about companies hiring people to assemble products or other work at home things. But you have to be careful because many of these companies only hire in their local area and so one. You can also get the information with a search in a library and so on.
I think any directory you have to pay for is a scamA confidence game or other fraudulent scheme, especially for making a quick profit; unless it is affiliated with a legitimate employment site. There are a lot better ways to find a work-at-home job than paying someone for a directory.
