Thats more of corruption than a scamA confidence game or other fraudulent scheme, especially for making a quick profit; . There isn't much you can do and its hard to get proof, if the company allows you to pick up that kind of thing directly from the branch itself, then do it.

There are many people involving in this. All are one and do this type of scams with people and share the money among themselves.

I haven't heard of anything regarding the postal involvement, but we've had problems with thieves targeting mailboxes when people aren't home. They'll take cards/pins, plus they will also grab the preauthorized offers a lot of people get. More and more, people are having to switch to getting locked mailboxes.

We don't really have this kind of problem in Scotland, where I'm originally from, our mail is put through a letterbox built into the front door, making it almost impossible for someone to steal.

There have been incidents of where things have been stolen from postboxes, but it usually happens when there are hundreds of letters in the postbox itself, they can just reach right in and take it out. They're always in a public place and are made of thick solid metal, and welded to the ground, it would take one hell of a trick to break it open.

The only real way to prevent it is to take the mail out of the mailbox as soon as it gets put in. Or if you don't get in until a few hours after the mail is delivered, get a family member to pick it up for you.
