The Car That Never Went

The Car That Never Went

$5000 I spent on it. Ok, not a fortune, but all the same I expected a car that would go.

It did, kind of. For about two weeks. Then things started to go wrong.

I finally stopped trying to fix it and wrote it off as a bad idea when the mechanic estimate was another $3000 to fix it up. I could have almost got a new car for all I would have spent!

That's horrible! I have always been a little bit scared of buying a car from somebody, not a dealer, because of these types of problems. I would much rather pay the $11,000 on the car that I bought and have it actually run great for a few years then pay $5,000 and have it potentially break down weeks later.

I really would have been better off just looking for financing. Instead I lost out on hard earned savings. At least if it were financed by a dealer who did this to me I would have some recourse-ie not paying them!

It's a shame you got ripped off like this. The state I live in has a lemon law, you might want to do a little research in to see whether or not yours does. I hope it all works out for you.

When you buy a new car, then you have some protection if it is from a dealer. But when you buy from a person you cannot rely on what they tell you. When you do this you should make it a point to test drive it, stop look for leaks under the car, test all aspects to see if it works properly, and have it checked out by a mechanic.

I certain am sad that you lost so much on it.
