But you are making money...

I think the biggest brainwash that MLMs foist upon their new recruits is this statement. You are making money. If I am spending more money to participate in this business than I am making I am not making money I am losing money. What bugs me is that I can show this to them. I can prove I am losing and they still just repeat this mantra to me: But you are making money... Why do you want to quit? I've made more money collecting returnable bottles from the ditches of my township than I have working frenetically at the MLMs I've been suckered into joining. Please no more MLMs.

And here it goes, another case when some company is doing this, I hate it! They are making us morons, and of course it is absolutely not our fault. It's like some kind of conspiracy, where you are bombarded with just one type of information and by the time you manage to sober yourself enough to rise up and stop this madness they pull you back in with some other similar stuff.

I saw a Seinfeld episode once where Jerry offered to call the telemarketer back and the telemarketer wouldn't agree. That's how I feel sometimes. Give me your number and let me harass you at home for your money!

At least once or twice a year I will block the # when calling and call up those places just to hear the spiel. If I am really in the mode I will debate them about this very fact, I know its kind of mean but its kind of funny too. Instead of them calling me I am calling them.

I have fallen or jumped into more than one of these traps. Of course, my husband was right there with me; pulling me in. We get so desperate to make money without having to constantly answer to someone else so we decide to start a business and work at home. Then what happens; we start having to report upline about our progress and lack there of. Plus, we are definitely not working at home; but hitting the streets begging other unfortunates to join in our misery. So much for the American Dream.

It's a no win situation. You either turn good friends into MLMMultilevel Marketing is selling products by using independent distributors and allowing these distributors to build and manage their own sales force by recruiting, motivating, supplying, and training others to sell products. The distributors' compensation includes their own sales and a percentage of the sales of their sales group (downline). zombies or you turn them into enemies. Either way you lose them as friends. I value my friends way to much to do that to any of them anymore.

I am amazed at the propaganda and foolery they try to force down your throat with these MLMs. They really pretend they can't understand why you want to quit. You see the pyramid-like structure and want to get off the bottom. Sell to 6 people and they will sell to 6 people and they will sell to 6 people and so on. Yeah right. What really pissed me off is I gave them my phone numbers for my friends and family and they actually hooked a few of them good! I can't call them now without hearing about how great this particular MLM is. What's sad is none of my friends and family in the MLM are making any money! They keep saying they can't wait til they day they get to quit their 9-5 to do the MLM fulltime. So sad.
