BellSouth, DSL, DirecTV Bundle

BellSouth, DSL, DirecTV Bundle

I signed up for the BellSouth, DirecTV bundle that gives phone service, high speed internet, and satalite TV as a bundle. I did this because I received the promotion in the mail stating BellSouth would give me hundreds of dollars for switching and signing up for the bundle.

My original bundle was with the local cable company and the total bill for phone, internet, and TV was $99. BellSouth promised to beat that price which I really didn't believe but was willing to try becauese I was leaning toward leaving the cable company anyways.

I got my first bill from BellSouth and it was over $150! And then I received a DirecTV bill separately for another $30! I was very hot! I immediately called DirecTV to cancel the service since I was not happy with it. Well, they charge $150 per extra receiver (they 'gave' me 3 extra @ $5/month EACH!) to end the service. I called before 30 days was up and they still charge a termination fee if you end the contract. What a ripoff by DirecTV. Satallite wasn't much better than cable and was very inconvenient since it died when it rained or when the wind would blow hard.

Stay away from the BellSouth bundle as it sucks majorly. NONE of their long distance packages can compete with your cable company's free long distance. The DSL is much slower than the broadband offered by the cable company. The DirecTV is comparable to cable, but it comes with a contract and you have to lease their receivers. Not to mention I have that ugly dish in my yard.

I signed up for the bundle and I was stuck with DirecTV for 14 months I think. I read that they charged per receiver to end the contract early.

BellSouth got me because I signed up for checks as my rebate method. They sent those stupid gift cards instead that I could not use on anything useful. They were denied at the gas pumps. They were denied at Wal-Mart of all places. I could not make internet purchases with them. I ended up giving them to my mom and told her if she could find a place to use them they are hers. She is fine with getting embarrassed when cards don't work in public places. :-(

No way the local phone companies can compete with Digital Phone! With Digital Phone, you get unlimited long distance built into the price. The local phone companies still make a killing trying to sell those stupid packages they have for long distance. They are still getting older folks and people too lazy to shop around.

People knock digital phone by always going to the power outage argument. That is such a mute point. You can buy an UPS with the money you save by switching to digital phone and have your phone for many hours after the power goes out. Wouldn't it be something if the cable companies started giving people an UPS when they switch to digital phone! That would crush the local phone companies and their ridiculous long distance packages.

The BellSouth, DirecTV bundle is no good. I have all the same services from my cable company and the price difference is negligible. Cable is actually cheaper this month!

The BellSouth, DirecTV bundle gives you slower internet (MUCH SLOWER) and phone service that does not come with unlimited long distance. The DirecTV service is almost a wash compared to the same digital cable package. Digital cable gives you this box you have to use. Oh, so does DirecTV. And DirecTV also requires you get that dish in your backyard that seems to lose service every time it decides to rain or the wind blows past 15 MPH.

I had the bundle, BellSouth Answers, DSL and DirecTV. The total price of this bundle was a lot more than the bundle from the cable company! BellSouth Answers is the biggest part of this ripoff! BellSouth's phone package can not compare to the cable company's digital phone! They gave me that "what about a power outage" story and scared me into buying their bundle. Total ripoff!
