The Bank Called
I had a phone call today from someone claiming to be my bank. They had all my information and were trying to sell me a large home owners loan. I had just two days before deposited a very large sum into my account with them so the timing seemed like the knew I was good to be hit up, and were trying it on.
So, can the bank do this? Do they cold call like that to try and sell you things? I have been a customer of theirs for about 20 years and it's never happened before-the timing is really odd.

I have had similar experience. I have received ( and still receive) many calls from the marketing department of my bank trying to get me interested in new investment schemes. I haven't paid attention if this coincided with the time I made a deposit to my account , but it's so frequent that I wouldn't know if it did. It's a little worrying trend because it's like someone from that section monitors the accounts.
Yeah, it seems like your account is monitored for they know who they should call. It is their business to make profit but doing this is not entirely ethical. You are putting your trust in your bank by saving your money to them. You could go to the bank or call the manager of the bank and request to stop the calling of investment schemes from them.
It seems a little ironic too, and supports the theory that the bank will only loan you money when you don't need it. The OP just made a big deposit; why would they take out a loan, rather than using the money that they just deposited?
That's not a comfortable feeling, the most they should call any one person is once and only once. I had an experience recently where I had a new phone line installed and I got 4 call in a two period offering me DSL. I was amazed.
