Airlines Charging for Drinks

Airlines Charging for Drinks

I feel like I was just taken to the bank on my flight to San Diego. The airlines are now charging for drinks! We are not allowed to bring our own, so they charge you, well, they overcharge you for a 12 ounce drink. Are there any airlines who are not in the business of nickel and diming me to death?

The airlines are going crazy! They are charging for everything now and their service is getting worse. Southwest doesn't charge you for every little thing you want AND their service is good. Seems as if everyone would fly SouthWest and say bye bye to all the other airlines.

There are airlines who will include drinks and snacks, but for the average or light user these cost way more. All they have done is make transparent their costs, and you now pick and choose what you want, al la carte. I don't think that's too bad myself.

Southwest is the way to go amongst the "big boys" in the airline industry. I switched to them 2 years ago and haven't looked elsewhere since. The pricing is great and has remained more consistent than the other airlines. I watch fares at other airlines climb and climb and climb while Southwest just sits still and keeps providing outstanding service for the same price they have always offered. Even when the prices do increase, they are a lot less drastic increases than the other airlines.

For US to Europe which is where I mostly fly, I find Aer Lingus to be the best. They are cheap, have frequent sales and the costs of food and drink is included on these international flights. All told though, airlines have really got to make their money somewhere-just look at how many are failing lately.

I agree that they need to make their money somewhere, but I think bad service or lack of good service is not the way to go.

I used to fly with Spirit Airlines a lot until they also started charging different rates for seats in Economy, the snacks and I think it maybe only the blankets left to be charged for.

If an airline ever charges me for those sucky blankets, I will no longer fly! They need to do better planning to avoid having to pass petty costs like these on to the customers. Management, and more management is at fault for this failure!

The airlines are charging for everything now. Pillows, blankets, drinks, they charge you to take luggage anymore. It's really getting ridiculous. Next thing you know there will be a charge for seatbelts and lap trays. You'll have to rent the magazines and won't be allowed to bring your own.

I traveled on an airline last year and the flight was a connecting one. I had to pay for my luggage to be transferred to the next plane. That was not properly outlined.

There are still several airlines that are not nickel and diming their customers but then, their fares are not exactly competitive either. I bet you wont find them flying full either.
